Town Seeks Public Input on Long Range Plan

The Stratford Planning Commission is pleased to announce that it has completed a public draft of the (Master) Plan of Conservation and Development, which it has been preparing over this past year.

Copies of the draft are available in the Town Clerks’s and Planning and Zoning Offices at Town Hall, 2725 Main St.; the Stratford Public Library, 2203 Main St., and the Baldwin Center, 1000 West Broad St., and can be found under Things to Know on the town’s homepage www.townofstratford.com, or viewed directly at www.townofstratford.com/pocd.

“We are eager to receive comments from the public as the strength of any town plan is rooted in the degree of community support behind the Plan," said Planning Commission Chairman John Zbell.

“The Plan, which will guide future development over the next 10 years, includes recommendations on Land Use, Economic Development, Brownfields, and Waterfront Development.”

The Planning Commission has scheduled two public hearings on the Plan of Conservation and Development -- a general public hearing on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 and a second hearing to adopt the Plan on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013.

Individuals can speak at one of these public hearings or submit written comments.

The Planning Commission has been assisted by a Steering Committee representing major boards and commissions in town including the Town Council, the Economic Development Commission, the Zoning Commission, the Waterfront and Harbor Management Commission, the Conservation Commission, and the Historic District Commission.

Technical assistance has been provided by a consulting firm with much experience in the field, Peter J. Smith & Company, Inc. of Buffalo, NY and by past Town Planner David Killeen.
