Wooster Switches To Distance Learning For Rest Of Week Amid Virus

"We understand these are worrisome and uncertain times," the Stratford middle school's administrators said.

STRATFORD, CT — Wooster Middle School students will learn remotely for the rest of the week after multiple coronavirus cases were reported at the school.

Parents and staff were instructed in a message Monday from Superintendent Janet Robinson to move to distance learning Tuesday after a member of the school community developed virus symptoms. A message Sunday from Wooster administrators said two community members had tested positive for the virus, with both cases affecting cohort B students. Thursday and Friday would be remote learning days, the message said.

Wednesday is always a distance learning day under the school district’s hybrid model.

“We understand these are worrisome and uncertain times,” Sunday’s message said. “By working together we can keep our community safe and healthy while working for the continued education of our students.”

As of last week, Wooster had about 85 students and two teachers in quarantine. Students who are in quarantine as a result of the school’s first virus case will return to the classroom Oct. 29, according to the message. Contact tracing is ongoing for students who had direct contact with the second person to test positive. The symptomatic community member reported Monday by Robinson was awaiting a virus test result.
