Aquarion Offers Discount In Trumbull On Rain Collection Barrels
The utility company is offering a $50 discount on the barrels.
TRUMBULL, CT — Aquarion Water Company is again offering a $50 discount to Trumbull and Connecticut customers on 60-gallon rain water collection barrels made from recycled materials, the utility company announced.
The rain barrel initiative not only supports Aquarion’s water conservation efforts, but it also provides numerous benefits for users by being an efficient and effective way to store rain water for later use. Water collection is from rain and runoff from a roof or downspout.
"They provide a free, ready source of water for filling watering cans, connecting a garden hose, feeding a drip irrigation system and other outdoor chores," officials said. "For example, one 60-gallon recycled food-grade barrel can consistently provide water for a 100 square foot garden."

Aquarion is offering rain barrels to its customers for $75, or 40 percent less than the regular retail price of $125.
Added Carolyn Giampe, director of Environmental Management for Aquarion, "Rain barrels are a great resource for homeowners, especially during dry summer months when water use may be restricted. In addition to conserving water, which helps residents save money, rain barrels also reduce pollution in Connecticut’s water supplies by limiting storm water runoff."
