Eversource CT Town-By-Town Restoration Estimates

Eversource has restored power to more than 93,000 customers and is working to fix issues for 7,500 customers still without power.

CONNECTICUT — Power outages continue to affect some Connecticut residents as of Tuesday afternoon. Eversource reported that it restored power to more than 93,000 customers since the onset of the storm and that it was working to restore service to the remaining 7,500 customers who still have their lights out.

“The fierce winds with this storm caused widespread power outages, affecting customers in all of the 149 communities we serve in Connecticut,” said Eversource Vice President of Electric Operations in Connecticut Michael Hayhurst. “We recognize how difficult it is to be without electricity especially while staying at home during this pandemic. Our crews will continue working until every customer has power back while also complying with stringent federal, state and company pandemic protocols such as social distancing, hygiene and enhanced sanitation measures to safeguard their health and well-being, as well as that of coworkers and customers.”

Service restoration estimates are available at Eversource.com.

Food Safety During Power Outages

Many state residents have stocked up on food due to the new coronavirus pandemic to limit visits to the grocery store.

The United States Department of Agriculture notes that refrigerated food is safe for up to four hours during a power outage. The USDA recommends that people keep the refrigerator door closed as much as possible.

A full freezer will hold a safe temperature for about 48 hours and a half-full freezer will remain safe for about 24 hours. Food can be safely refrozen if it still contains ice crystals or is at 40 degrees or below.

Here's a USDA list of what to discard after a long power outage.
