The National Weather Service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, New London, Hartford and Tolland counties for Tuesday afternoon.

Yesterday, we dealt with freezing temps, snow and ice, and now there is talk of thunderstorms and fog. What a winter!

Here is the latest information via the National Weather Service:

Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties:

“As widespread moderate to locally heavy rain falls on frozen ground as it moves east across the area this afternoon...minor urban flooding of low lying poor drainage areas is likely.”

“A narrow band of heavy showers along with isolated thunderstorms may cause wind gusts of at least 58 mph...across the region this afternoon.”

Up to an inch of rain is likely before ending at 7 p.m. or so.

Hartford and Tolland counties:

A period of heavy rain this afternoon will result in areas of urban and poor drainage flooding, the weather service states.

Rain and possibly a thunderstorm is likely after 4 p.m. Patchy fog is also expected and winds will gust up to 21 mph. An inch of rain is likely before ending around 8 p.m. Fog also will pose an issue this evening.
