Kickboxing-Zumba Fundraiser for Trumbull Family Fighting Cancer on Two Fronts
With both parents facing terminal diseases, the Mantone family could use your help kicking cancer to the curb.

Help kick the crap out of cancer and support a Trumbull family battling the disease on two fronts while trying to make it through the rigors of everyday life.
Joan and August (Augie) Mantone were both diagnosed with stage four cancer over the course of 2 years, a difficult prognosis for any wife and husband to face, let alone the parents of twin teenage daughters, one with Down Syndrome.
“This has been a very difficult year for our family,” Joan wrote. “It is hard enough to have one parent diagnosed with a life threatening disease but two is just not fair.”
In order to help the family through this difficult time, Hanko Ryu Martial Arts in Trumbull and Zumba with Heatherly are hosting a kickboxing-Zumba fundraiser on Sept. 7 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
According to the event description, all fitness levels are welcome to participate.
“You can Zumba and kickbox for a song or two, take a break and then get back on the mats with us,” the post on EventBrite.com reads. “Or you can cheer on your friends from the sidelines.”
Everyone who joins in will also get a coupon for a free kickboxing class and be entered to win a Zumba birthday party.
“We’re getting together to laugh a lot, sweat as much as you want and have a great time while raising money for a wonderful family.”
“Our two beautiful daughters have not complained at all in the last three and a half years since their lives were turned upside down,” Joan wrote, noting that they would not have gotten this far without the support of friends and family. “We are very thankful for all of the kindness, love and support that has been shown to us.”
Tickets for the fundraiser are $20. Sign up online to participate.
