Man Arrested After Attempted Tire Theft: Trumbull PD
A resident saw someone tampering with his car around 2 a.m. and called police.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Bridgeport man was arrested after he tried to steal tires off of a Honda vehicle Oct. 4 in the area of Arrowhead Road, according to police.
An area resident saw someone tampering with vehicles around 2 a.m. and he called police. The victim continued to follow the man and updated dispatchers about his location.
The man ran away, but officers apprehended him, police said. Officers found a bag nearby that contained tools used to remove tires.

Jason Batts, 47, initially gave police a false name, police said.. His girlfriend was found in a car down the street from where the attempted theft took place. She claimed to not know about the theft.
Police found a stun gun in Batts’ vehicle.

Batts was charged with illegal possession of a motor vehicle, possession of burglar tools, criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and interfering with police.
