September Events at EverWonder Children's Museum

EverWonder Children's Museum is pleased to announce its calendar for September 2016.

Newtown, Connecticut. – August 22, 2016

EverWonder Children’s Museum is pleased to announce its calendar for September 2016. The museum has events for the entire family. The event calendar is subject to change without notice. Please check EverWonderMuseum.org or Facebook for calendar changes and announcements.

EverWonder is open Tuesday- Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is $7.00 per person, and children under the age of 1 years old are free. Museum members are free. Parking at the museum is also free.

Story Lab for Young Explorers meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am to 11:00 am. This 30 minute program of STEM themed stories, activities, and crafts takes place in the EverWonder classroom. Parents must stay with their children during the program. Program is free with museum admission.

New Art Labs: Apple Trees & Tegu

Starting on Tuesday, August 30th, come check out EverWonder’s new art labs, Apple Trees & Tegu. In Apple Trees, children will create their own apple trees and count how many apples are in their bunch. In Tegu, children will learn basic engineering principles while using Tegu magnetic blocks to build freestanding structures.

In honor of the start of the school year, children will cut, fold and glue to create three dimensional school buses out of paper.

Children will put apple slices in different liquids and observe what happens when the apple reacts to the liquid. Children will work on their observation skills during this science lab.

Make a Hat Day: Newspaper Hats

Are you a future fashion designer? Come make a hat in honor of National Make a Hat Day. Children will celebrate this wacky holiday by creating their own newspaper hats. Will you make a crown, a fedora, a bowler, a top hat, or your own special design?

Science Lab: Index Card Science

Children will use index cards to explore engineering (how to fold index cards to hold weight) and to see if they can cut the index card in a way where they can fit through the index card.

Science Lab: Balancing Robots

Can you make a robot stand on its hands? We are testing balance and center of gravity through making balancing robots. Children will make a paper robot and then manipulate the robot's center of gravity to test its balance through placing two pennies in various locations on the paper robot.

Formed in January 2011 by a group of parents, EverWonder Children’s Museum (incorporated as Newtown Children’s Museum, Inc.) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children and families in Northern Fairfield County through the use of hands-on museum exhibits and demonstrations. Museums hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10 am -5 pm and Sunday 11 am – 5 pm. The museum is located at 31 Pecks Lane Newtown, CT 06470. Regular admission is $7.00 for visitors over 1 year of age.
