Shingrix Vaccination Available at Trumbull Health Department

Shingrix vaccinations are available at the Trumbull Health Department, by appointment. Shingrix vaccination prevents shingles in adults 50 years or older. This vaccination is administered in two doses; the second dose is administered two to six months after the first dose. The cost of the vaccine is $175.00 per dose. We can bill insurance companies if they provide reimbursement. Contact them prior to your appointment. To schedule an appointment, call the Public Health Nurse at 203-452-1030.

Shingles is a viral infection that typically causes a painful skin rash. The rash appears on one side of the body and can last two to four weeks. It is usually accompanied with blisters. It affects older adults and people with a weakened immune system. The same virus that causes chickenpox causes shingles. It is not contagious and cannot be spread from person to person.

Signs of shingles includes itching, burning, and tingling in the area where the rash will appear. The rash can develop on the torso, arms, thighs, or head.
