TRUMBULL, CT — The State Department of Transportation has approved a traffic light at the Chip's shopping center on Route 111.

The town was awarded state grant funds to install the traffic light. The Pequonnock River Trail crossing will be redirected during the project.

The shopping center also contains an Edge Fitness Club, Pet Valu and a number of other retailers. As many motorists know it can be difficult to make a left turn out of the center, especially during peak travel times.

“I have long advocated for a traffic light at this location," said First Selectman Vicki Tesoro. "Public safety is a top priority of my administration, and I am pleased the new light will address the safety concerns for both the shopping center and the trail to continue to make Trumbull a safe place to live, work, and play.”

The popular trail crosses over busy Route 111 not far from the intersection with Route 25.
