Jaime D. Pons, 60, of Dover Street, Bridgeport, is charged with DUI, driving in the improper lane and failure to obey a traffic signal.
Police said Pons was stopped after he crossed the double yellow line and ran a red light.
Pons admitted to drinking three beers, police said. His blood-alcohol content was tested at 0.16 and 0.147, or twice the legal limit of 0.08.
Pons is free on a written promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court.
