Bennie Carr, 58, of Hamden, is charged with sixth-degree larceny.
Police said Carr took $213 in formula from Target on Hawley Lane. He was caught as he walked to his car, police said.
His bond was set at $1,000 for an appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court.
