Trumbull Police Make 3 DUI Arrests

Three people were recently charged with DUI in Trumbull.

TRUMBULL, CT — Trumbull police officers made three recent DUI arrests in town. Below are the summaries of the incidents.


A 43-year-old Stratford man was arrested after he was found passed out behind the wheel, according to police.

Officers were called to the area of Route 108 and Penny Avenue Dec. 19 on a report of an erratic driver who had passed out while in traffic.

Police woke up the driver and gave him a field sobriety test, which he failed. His blood-alcohol level was later measured at .278 and .251, both three times the legal limit, police said. He was charged with DUI and driving under a suspended license. He was released on a $1,000 bond.


A 46-year-old Stratford woman was charged with DUI after she struck a utility pole Dec. 16, police said.

A witness told police that a car crossed the double yellow line and struck the pole while making a turn.

The operator wasn't injured in the crash. She failed a field sobriety test and her blood-alcohol level was measured at .145 and .151, both over the legal limit, police said. She was charged with DUI, making an improper turn and failure to drive in the right lane and released on a $500 bond.


An 18-year-old Trumbull resident was charged with DUI after he fled a minor crash scene, police said.

A minor crash occurred in the CVS parking lot on White Plains Road Dec. 16. Police found the license plate of the vehicle that fled and contacted the vehicle owner. The owner said his son had been driving the car and told him to go back to the parking lot.

The 18-year-old man smelled of alcohol and appeared to have a hard time standing, police said. He told officers he didn't realize he had hit another vehicle.

He failed a field sobriety test and his blood-alcohol level was measured at .246 and .270, both over the legal limit for adults and underage drinkers, according to police. The 18-year-old was charged with DUI, evading responsibility and unsafe backing. He was released on a promise to appear.
