Woman Had Hot Wax Dropped In Eye At Trumbull Spa: Lawsuit

TRUMBULL, CT — A now-closed Trumbull spa settled for $400,000 after a woman was scarred and her vision affected following a hot wax treatment.

Gail Gianpalo went to the Fairfield Day Spa at the Trumbull mall in July 2016 for an eyebrow wax. A beautician dropped hot wax into her eye while he was arguing with another customer and then didn't take action to remove the wax or provide medical treatment, according to the lawsuit.

Gianpalo now suffers from blurred vision and other permanent damage, according to the lawsuit. Her eye also became infected after the incident.

The settlement was mediated by a retired Superior Court judge, according to the Connecticut Post.
