Trumbull youth competed in qualifier for national drive, chip, put competition.

Trumbull junior golfer Ian Brady won the gold medal in the putting event at the sub-regional qualifier of the National Drive, Chip & Putt competition sponsored by the USGA, PGA and The Masters.

Brady placed fourth overall in the 7- to 9-year-old boys group at the competition, held on July 30 at the TPC-River Highlands Golf Club, the home of the Traveler’s Championship.

Approximately 20 golfers qualified to compete in this event by placing in the top three at their local qualifying tournaments.

Brady also competed in the U.S. Kids Golf Tour event held at Tashua Knolls Golf Course in Trumbull on Monday, Aug. 4, and placed fourth overall in this event, which featured boys competing on this national tour from as far away as California.

Ian (8), his brother Owen (6), and his parents David and Stacey Brady, are all members of the Oronoque Golf Club in Stratford.
