2 Charged After Knife Fight In Vernon
Two men faced off with knives during a weekend altercation in Vernon, police said.

VERNON, CT — Two men are facing criminal charges after squaring off with knives in Vernon over the weekend, police said.
The incident took place at 4:19 p.m. on Old Town Road, according to arrest reports.
The combatants were identified as 50-year-old Sylvester Gillespie and 29-year-old Emmanuel Torres, both of Vernon. According to arrest reports Gillespie suffered multiple "puncture wounds" and Torres was slashed in the neck and on the elbow.

Torres and Gillespie were both charged with second-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon and second-degree breach of peace, arrest reports indicate.
Torres and Gillespie were held over the weekend on respective bonds of $150,000 and $50,000 and were to appear inRockville Superior Court Monday, police said.
