20th annual Iron Sharpens Iron Men's Conference on March 21
Ministry founded by Rockville High School and UConn graduate has grown into a nationwide movement serving over 500,000 men
The 20th annual Hartford Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Conference will be held on Saturday, March 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:55 p.m. at The First Cathedral, 1151 Blue Hills Avenue. The conference is open to teenage boys and adult men of all ages. Dress is casual. Pre-registration is requested. Discounted student and group rates are available.
Based in West Hartford, Iron Sharpens Iron was founded by Brian Doyle, a graduate of Rockville High School and the University of Connecticut at Storrs. The first Iron Sharpens Iron conference was held at Valley Community Church in Avon 2001. The following year, the conference moved to The First Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Connecticut with seating capacity for over 3,000 men. Iron Sharpens Iron has grown into a nationwide movement, serving a cumulative total of over 500,000 men. This spring, 33 conferences will be held in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin. More conferences are being planned for the fall.
At the Hartford conference, keynote speakers will be Dr. Bruce Fong, Dean of Dallas Theological Seminary-Houston and Rev. Bryan Carter, Senior Pastor at Concord Church in Dallas. There will also be 17 seminars facilitated by experienced speakers on a variety of men’s issues including anger, authentic manhood, decision-making, forgiveness, grandfathering, leadership in the family, marriage, parenting, pornography and sexuality.
