3 Familiar Vernon Vacancies Primed For New Tenants

VERNON, CT — Three recognizable vacancies on Routes 83 and 30 are being primed for new tenants.

Square peg Pizza has made a commitment to take over the old Little Mark's Big BBQ location at 226 Talcottville Road on Route 83. It will be the second restaurant for Square Peg, which is known for its arcade theme. The original Square Peg is located at 1001 Hebron Ave. in Glastonbury.

Vernon Economic Development Coordinator Shaun Gately said there is no formal construction timetable for Square Peg.

The light blue former home at the intersection of Route 83 and Allen Drive is currently fenced off for what Gately call "significant work." The Suds and Scissors salon had previously occupied the location, he said.

On Route 30, the former home of the Oriental Cafe will be converted into Family's Pizza. The restaurant and other businesses in the Post Road Plaza were damaged by a fire in 2018. A building permit has been issued for the conversion.

Minuteman Press in the plaza reopened shortly after the fire.
