VERNON, CT — To the Editor,
A huge thank you to our neighbors and friends in the South Street area and beyond, and Vernon’s Planning and Zoning Commission. At its August 20 meeting, the PZC unanimously voted to deny the developer’s request to change the six acres at 209 South Street from its residential zone to multi-family.
Many thanks to every resident who signed the petition, wrote letters of opposition, and attended the virtual public hearing to voice concerns about the plan to build 56 apartments on the property. The PZC heard our collective voices, and as a result we can walk our streets without the threat of additional traffic hazards; we can make improvements to our homes knowing that they will bring value to our community; and we can come home every day knowing we made the right decision to invest in Vernon.

Our Neighborhood Group would like to thank Vernon’s Planning and Zoning Commissioners for the time they spent reviewing the materials we submitted, and for listening to our comments. While the PZC's decision is certainly great news for our neighborhood, perhaps even more important, this was the right decision for all Vernon residents and the future of our town.
