VERNON, CT — A vehicle ran off Bamforth Road Sunday evening and burst into flames, Vernon police said in a report released Tuesday.

The crash took place at 5:4o p.m. on Bamforth Road near the intersection with Baker Road, according to a report.

The vehicle careened down an embankment and caught on fire, which was quickly extinguished by a Vernon Fire Department crew, police said.

Both the driver and passenger were able to escape and the driver suffered a minor injury, a report indicates.
