Driver Heads Into Speed Trap At 133 MPH On I-84 In Vernon: Police

VERNON, CT — A 20-year-old from East Hartford was caught doing better than 130 mph on a stretch of Interstate-84 in Vernon over the weekend, state police said.

The driver sped right into a speed trap on the westbound side of the highway at 12:59 a.m., according to a report.

Troopers saw the car coming and positioned themselves with with a hand-held laser unit as it approached.

The car registered 133 mph, according to a report.

The driver was charged with reckless driving and operating an unregistered motor vehicle, state police said.
