VERNON, CT — The Vernon Parks and Recreation Department is offering two 2020 Halloween options for both pets and humans.
Both were designed to be safe alternatives to door-to-door trick or treating amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A pet costume contest will run from Oct 1 through Oct 16. Residents can e-mail an entry form, complete with pictures of their pets dressed in their Halloween costumes, to parksandrec@vernon-ct.gov.

A drive-up trunk or treat event has been scheduled for Oct. 29 at Henry Park 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Participants must remain in their vehicles when they stop at each "trunk" to receive a treat, officials said. Trunks will be decorated by town of Vernon departments and local organizations.
Participating organizations will have treats for the first 500 children and the event is open to Vernon residents only.
