Mask Request Leads To Fracas At Vernon Restaurant: Report

A request to put a mask on sent a customer on a tirade at a Vernon eatery, a police report says.

VERNON, CT — A request to put a mask on sent a customer at the Vernon Denny's into a bag-swinging tirade earlier in the week, a police report indicated.

At 5:11 p.m. Monday, Vernon police received a call about an intoxicated woman causing a disturbance at Denny's in the Tri-City Plaza retail center, the report said. Staffers told officers the 48-year-old woman refused to put a mask on then refused to leave when asked.

The woman is accused of pushing an employee and hitting an employee with a bag.

She tried to flee questioning by police and was found with marijuana after finally agreeing to talk to officers, according to the report.

The woman was charged with second-degree breach of peace, interfering with police and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana.
