New Oil Change Outlet 'Coming Soon' To Vernon Parcel

VERNON, CT — A sign has emerged on Route 83 in Vernon indicating that a Valvoline oil change business will be built on a long-vacant parcel.

The placard became visible this week, but the "coming soon" declaration on it might be premature, depending on one's definition of "soon." Vernon Economic Development Coordinator Shaun Gately said Friday the owners, who operate a number of Valvoline places in the area, will need "several modifications" approved before opening.

Conceptual plans have been submitted to local zoning officials, however, he said.

The land is owned by the operators of the Mr. Sparkle Car wash chain and sits next to one of the Vernon Mr. Sparkles at 373 Hartford Talcottville Road, the local address for that part of Route 83. The parcel has sat vacant next door to Mr. Sparkle for years.

Mr. Sparkle sold the land to Valvoline, Gately said.
