One Year Later — A Ceremony For Rockville High School 2020 Grads

VERNON, CT — The Rockville High School Class of 2020 will finally be able to have an in-person graduation celebration.

Last year's commencement was relegated to a drive-up ceremony because of restrictions prompted by the coronavirus pandemic. Protocols now permit outdoor activities of that magnitude.

An RHS "End-of-Year Class of 2020 Celebration-Reboot" has been scheduled for June 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. for the members of last year's graduating class and the RHS faculty and staff. The event will be staged at the school's faculty parking lot and the upper athletic fields.

Food and yard games will be provided.

The RSVP deadline to the school is June 11.

Last year, parents and students lined their cars up in the student lot and paraded around the rear of the RHS campus. Awaiting them in front was a podium and a gathering of faculty members and town and education officials to cheer them on.

Seniors were able to exit their vehicles for presentations and photo ops.
