VERNON, CT — Vernon Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that took place on Phoenix Street Tuesday afternoon.

Police received a 911 call about the crash shortly before 3 p.m. When emergency crews arrived, they located a man in cardiac arrest in front of 151 Phoenix St., according to a report. Police said he was a pedestrian and whatever hit him was gone from the scene. A passerby came upon the man, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at scene, police said. Police did not release his age or name but did say he was an "adult male" from Vernon.

Witnesses were being interviewed at the scene Tuesday evening.

Vernon Police and the Metro Traffic Services Team are investigating. Anyone with information on the crash is being urged to call Vernon Police at 860-872-9126. Police are also looking for home security video from area from between 2:45 and 3 p.m.
