VERNON, CT — A condominium development has been proposed that could bring 70 more housing units to the Route 83 corridor in town, a municipal official said Wednesday.

Vernon Economic Developement Coordinator Shaun Gately said the condos would be located on three or four parcels off Naek Road. The units would stretch from an area behind the Hockanum Valley Community Council headquarters at the end of Naek Road, run parallel to the river itself and then tuck onto a corner behind the massive Trail Run Apartment complex, he said.

The developer is Rasheed Hamid, who owns Naek Construction, Gately said.

Gately described the condos as "owner-occupied, for-sale units."

No timetable at the local regulatory level has been formalized, Gately said.

When asked about added traffic, Gately said. "Res traffic has a fraction of the impact of commercial traffic."
