'Psychedelic Candy Bar' Found In Car After Vernon Crash: Report

VERNON, CT — A psychedelic candy bar was among the narcotics located in a vehicle after a rear-end crash in Vernon, police said.

Vernon police released the details of the Jan. 17 crash this week.

According to a report, the crash took place at about 9:30 a.m. on Route 30. One vehicle slammed into another from behind as the driver was attempting to turn right into the Ocean State Job Lot Plaza, according to a report.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash, a 19-year-old Somers man, was slurring his words and a "blue color" was coming from his nose as an officer attempted to question him, according to a report.

He also told the officer he was "partying at UConn the previous night," according to a report.

Police located marijuana, psilocybin mushroom chocolate bars, Xanax and MDMA in the vehicle, according to a report.

The driver was charged with:

  • Driving under the influence
  • The use of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of drugs with the intent to sell
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Following too close
