RockvilleFest 2017 coming to downtown Rockville on Saturday, September 16

Event is three fun fairs in one: a classic car rally, craft expo and baby fair. There is something for everyone.

The Rockville Community Alliance will host RockvilleFest 2017 on Saturday, September 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Rockville. This year’s family-friendly event is actually three fun fairs in one: a classic car rally, craft expo and baby fair. Admission is free. Plenty of free parking will be available in downtown parking lots and on adjacent streets.

Main Street will be closed and turned into a nostalgic Classic Car Rally with hundreds of cars provided by the
Central Connecticut Car Club. There is a $10 entry fee for car owners who wish to display their cars. Awards and prizes for best cars in various categories will be given. Central Park and Park Place will be transformed into a Craft Expo full of displays by crafters, home party vendors, artisans, businesses, local organizations and food vendors. The Vernon Community Network will sponsor a Baby Fair with free items for expectant and new parents and grandparents, tips on raising healthy children, advice about programs for infants and toddlers, and fun activities and games for all kids including a foam machine and inflatables. The Rockville Downtown Association (RDA) will open its Citizens Block storefront office and show new segments of The Rockville Beat television show on a big screen.

Downtown Rockville is a very scenic venue for an outdoor festival, with rich and historic architecture, attractive landscaping and patriotic memorials in Central Park, and a panoramic view of Memorial Tower on Fox Hill. Rain date for RockvilleFest 2017 is Sunday, September 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s co-sponsor is Keep In Touch, a marketing and media business located at Lafayette Square. Festival sponsorships and display table space are still available. For details, call event chair Tom DiDio at 860.646.5320 or visit www.RockvilleFest.org.
