Serious Crash Closes Portion Of Route 83 In Vernon

VERNON, CT — A crash on Route 83 in Vernon closed the roadway late Tuesday morning into the afternoon.

The crash took place at 9:33 a.m. near 360 Talcottville Road, the local address for that section of Route 83.

The crash involved a Ford Fusion and a Pontiac Bonneville, police said.

The "adult" driver of the Fusion sustained serious injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital. A \juvenile passenger in the Fusion was also injured and brought to Hartford Hospital. police said.

The "adult male" driver of the Pontiac was brought to Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center with serious injuries, police said.

The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening injuries and all were listed in stable condition at about 1 p.m., police said.

Route 83 was closed while the Metro Traffic Services Reconstruction Team investigated.

The road re-opened shortly after 1 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed. Anyone with information on the crash can call Vernon police at 860-872-9126.
