State Cops Intercept Car Going 25 MPH on I-84
A suspected drunken driver was crawling and swerving down a stretch of I-84 last week, state police said.

VERNON, CT — State Police intercepted a crawling vehicle with a suspected drunken driver at the wheel along a stretch of Interstate-84 last week.
At about 6 a.m. Thursday, state police were notified about an erratic driver on Interstate-84 in Vernon.
According to an arrest report, a trooper came upon a blue Chevrolet Cobalt in the right lane traveling at 25 mph in the 65 mph speed zone. Drivers are required to maintain at least a 40 mph speed on Connecticut highways.

The car was also swerving into the center lane, according to an arrest report.
The driver, a 40-year-old East Hartford resident, was "actively resisting arrest" and had to be subdued, state police said. He then failed a field sobriety test, state police said.

He was charged with an interlocking ignition violation, interfering, a lane violation, driving under the influence and driving at too slow a speed.
The area near Exit 67 is notorious for crashes because of its tricky, hilly terrain.
