State Police Pull Over 'Civilian' Taurus Going 111 MPH On I-84

VERNON, CT — The driver of a "civilian" Ford Taurus was caught by state police traveling at 111 mph along a stretch of Interstate-84 in Vernon this week.

The 2019 model pulled over is similar to the sedans (though better equipped) used by state police.

It was a trooper in a Ford Explorer sport utility cruise that caught the Taurus Wednesday, three minutes before midnight. He was stationed on the Westbound side of the highway on an speed enforcement detail when he noticed the Taurus quickly approaching, according to a report.

The speed on the trooper's laser equipment registered 111 mph and state police gave chase.

The Taurus was pulled over a short distance away. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Tavi Katz, of Monsey, NY, was charged with reckless driving, according to a report.
