Technical Difficulties Move Vernon Students To Virtual Learning
A network disruption is forcing Vernon schools to go virtual Friday.

VERNON, CT — Vernon students will take classes remotely Friday because of districtwide "network issues," Superintendnent of Schools Joseph Macary said.
Families were notified of the schedule change shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday.
The network went down at about 10:30 a.m. and caused disruptions to the computer networks, as well as the e-mail and phone systems, Macary said.

The town's IT department has identified the problem and has bee working to fix it, Macary said.
Meanwhile, he said it would be more practical to conduct classes virtually. Safety was also a factor because there would be no guarantee parents could be contacted in an emergency, he said.
