Countywide Tag Sale Trail 2021: The Final List of Participants

TOLLAND COUNTY, CT — The Tolland County Chamber of Commerce has taken a traditional springtime tag sale weekend and given it a little octane boost.

It's been dubbed the Countywide Tag Sale Trail 2021 and is designed to include traditional home tag sales with farms, businesses, vendors and organizations from the 13 towns in Tolland County under the chamber banner added to the mix.

The event is on tap for April 24 and 25.

The towns served by the TCCC are Andover, Bolton, Columbia, Coventry, Ellington, Hebron, Mansfield, Somers, Stafford, Tolland, Union, Vernon and Willington.

The third or fourth Saturday in April, depending on how the calendar fills out, was for years that of the Vernon Town Wide Tag Sale. The event — and it was not even an official municipal event, save for a map that used to run in a local publication — sort of fizzled out over the past couple of years.

Chamber officials decided not to attempt to revive it per se, but create a far-reaching event that could bring the county together during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Vernon tag sale day was popular and we know that a lot of people relied on local and regional fairs to sell their crafts," Chamber officials said. "Covid-19 put a stop to that. Our local restaurants and small businesses were also extremely effected. Some even had to close permanently. We wanted to help in some way. So, we are inviting households, farmers and businesses to join our trail."
