Traffic Restrictions Posted For Vernon Fireworks Night

Vernon's fireworks show is on for Wednesday, barring disastrous weather, officials said. Traffic restrictions will be in order.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police said several traffic restrictions will be in place for Wednesday's July in the Sky fireworks event in Downtown Rockville and Henry Park.

The fireworks are scheduled to go off at about 9:30 p.m. They are shot off from the Fox Hill Tower at Henry Park.

Though there is a 50 percent chance of evening thunderstorms Wednesday, according to The Weather Channel, the event will go on as scheduled, unless very sustained, severe weather rolls in, parks and recreation officials said.

The rain date is July 7, just n case, officials said.

During the event, several road closures, detours and parking restrictions will be in effect, police said.

Route 74 (West Main Street and East Main Street) will be closed between Elm Street and Court Street from 6 to 11 p.m. A detour will be posted, police said.

St. Bernard’s Terrace, Park Place and a portion of Park Street will be closed to traffic as well.

A number of temporary no parking areas will be posted in Downtown Rockville, as well as the vicinity of Henry Park.

Parking will be prohibited on South Street and some side streets will be posted with one-side only parking.
Public parking is available inside Henry Park. All vehicles must enter Henry Park through South Street, police said.
