Tuesday Vote On Tap For Rockville High School Turf, Track Plan

A vote is slated for Tuesday on a plan to replace the field and track at Rockville High School's stadium.

VERNON, CT — A virtual public hearing and special town meeting, are on tap for Tuesday, April 20 to decide the fate of a $1.5 million proposal to renovate the track and field surface and replace the current natural grass playing field with artificial turf at the Rockville High School stadium complex.

Drive-up and walk-up Voting will commence at 7:35 p.m. at town hall. Anynone in line at 9:30 will still be able to vote.

The proposal is to fund $1,129,462 from the capital non-recurring account for education to fund the field and $419,709 from the town's general fund to pay for the track. No borrowing has been proposed.

The meeting will be conducted via Zoom:

Voting will take place in front of town hall, 14 Park Place. "Qualified electors" and property owners will drive up, remain in their vehicles and indicate their vote by show of hand.

Walk-up voters will be accommodated at town hall.

Voters will be required to present a current photo ID before voting.

Voting hours have been extended beyond what was specified in the legal notice.
