Vernon Educators To Be Vaccinated This Week, Schedule Disrupted

VERNON, CT — Adminstrators, faculty members and other staffers of the Vernon public school system are scheduled to get their first doses of the coronavirus this week the second doses early next month.

The vaccines clinics will prompt students to be on a virtual learning schedule those two days, Vernon Superintendent of Schools Joseph Macary said.

The school system is teaming up with municipal officials, Priority Urgent Care and the North Central Health District to host the clinic.

The first doses are slated for Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vernon Senior Center, 135 Bolton Road.

The second vaccination clinic is on tap for April 1.

Students will take visual classes that day, Macary said.

"Together, the town of Vernon, the emergency management director, the school vaccination committee, Priority Urgent Care, and the North Central Connecticut Health District are working collaboratively to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority," Macary said. "We apologize for the disruption this causes in your children and families' lives, however vaccinating our teachers and staff is a huge step forward to normalcy' after Covid-19. The patience and understanding of the Vernon families has been outstanding."
