Vernon Obituary: Karmen Lanz, 93

Eggy retired from CL & P after 38 years of service.

Karmen W. “Eggy” Lanz, 93, beloved husband of Helen (Spilka) Lanz, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019.

He was born March 17, 1925 in Rockville to the late Walter and Freida (Otto) Lanz. Eggy retired from CL & P after 38 years of service. He was very involved in the community. He coached midget basketball for 12 years, and was past president of the Senior Baseball League.

His many hobbies included golf, volleyball and bowling. He played the piano, keyboard and enjoyed woodworking. He enjoyed motor homing visiting the 48 contiguous United States. He also enjoyed cruising, taking in most of the Caribbean countries, including the Panama Canal.

He would tell jokes whenever he was with a gathering of people!! He had everyone laughing!! His favorite saying was, “At my age, I don’t buy green bananas!!” He was a life member of the following organizations; Fayette Lodge #69, Tall Cedars, Rockville Lodge BPO Elks #1359, Maple Grove and the Italian Social Club.

Besides his wife of 67 years, he is survived by his son; Todd D. Lanz; his daughter in law Roberta Lanz; his grandchildren; Peter and Kara Lanz. He was predeceased by his son Scott K. Lanz in 2017.

Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, February 14, from 3-6 pm at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. A Funeral Home Service will take place on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11 am. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery, Ellington.
