Vernon Obituary: Shirley Snow, 90

Not only was she artistically talented, she was also an extremely creative person with a knack for decorating.

Shirley Hlasny Snow, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend departed her earthly home on Oct. 17, 2018, to be with her heavenly Father.

Born Dec. 8, 1927, she leaves behind her loving husband, Robert B. Snow of Vernon; her five daughters, Linda (Dick) Brown of Bolton, Donna (Mike) McDermott of Tolland, Deborah Snow-Sans and her partner, Pete Pelletier of Coventry, Sandra (Robert) Shepshinski of Somers, Holly (Jon) Godek of Ellington; as well as 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Her presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Born in Rockville, she lived most of her life in the Ellington area. She was a member of Ellington Congregational Church, and the Homemaker's Club from years ago. Not only was she artistically talented, she was also an extremely creative person with a knack for decorating. She also enjoyed antiquing, singing, history, and shopping. She loved to travel with family and friends; her favorite places were the beach and Forest Lake in New Hampshire.

She, along with her husband, Bob, owned and operated Snow's TV and Appliance for many years. She was also employed by American Dye, Cox Cable, and Pratt & Whitney. Those who knew her will miss her sense of humor and positive attitude.

Shirley's family offers sincere appreciation to the staff of Welles Country Village and Wendy Casanova, Shirley and Robert's aide, for their kindness and compassionate care.

A memorial service will be held at Ellington Congregational Church, 72 Main St., Ellington, at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24 with a reception in the church hall immediately following. Burial services will be private.
