Vernon Police Looking For Video, Witnesses In Assault Case
Vernon police are looking for the public's help in tracking down an assault suspect.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police are seeking the public’s assistance with an assault investigation.
The incident, took place at about 4 a.m. on June 20 near West Street and West Main Street, police said.
Area residents and businesses are asked to check surveillance cameras for any "relevant video," police said.

Responding officers located a victim who was suffering from "significant" facial injuries, police said. The person was taken to an area hospital for treatment, police said.
An object covered in blood was found nearby and is being "processed" as part of the ongoing investigation, police said.

The suspect in the case is being described by police as a man dressed in black who is about 5-foot-8. He may have walked west on West Main Street after the incident, police said.
A black backpack was stolen from the victim, police said.
