VERNON, CT — Statistics compiled in the the first 100 days of the 2020-21 academic year point to nearly all confirmed coronavirus cases in Vernon schools originating outside the seven local campuses.

That was the word from Vernon Superintendent of Schools Joseph Macary in a 100-day summary distributed Friday.

Macary said that 99 percent of the "confirmed" cases related to Vernon public schools point to transmission outside of schools themselves.

"Please be vigilant at home," was his message.

Macary also pointed to the state's coronavirus Addendum 5, which has been "updated" and includes "an acknowledgement of the local variables that will influence implementation for each school district."

"In the sample scenarios, the quarantine periods have been updated for close contacts without symptoms, while highlighting the importance of continued monitoring and strict enforcement of mitigating strategies for the balance of 14 days after exposure.," he said.

The last day of school is scheduled for June 11.
