Vernon's Zero Tax Increase 2021-22 Budget: By The Numbers
A budget for Vernon's 2021-22 fiscal year was approved at a town meeting Tuesday.

VERNON, CT — Voters at a town meeting Tuesday endorsed a zero tax increase budget for Vernon's 2021-22 fiscal year.
Here's a look at the $95.8 million spending package that takes effect July 1, by the numbers:
- Bottom line: $95,889,058
- Dollar increase: $1,798,962
- Percentage increase: 1.912
- Education total: $55,032,712
- Municipal total: $31,138,886
- Included is a one-time use of $1.5 million for Infrastructure such as Roads, Sidewalks and Parking lots.
- When taking the one-time use of funds out, the overall operating budget is an increase of $298,962 or 0.318 percent
- Conversion to a self-insured medical insurance program represents a savings of $800,000
- Continuation of a hybrid workers compensation insurance program – savings of $300,000
- The Board of Eduction budget increases $515,720 or 0.95 percent
- There will be no change to the tax rate for the third consecutive year. It stands at 39.63 mills
