Wednesday Evening Storm Leaves Trail Of Damage In Vernon

A fast-moving storm left a trail of damage in Vernon on Wednesday.

VERNON, CT — Sections of Vernon were relatively back to normal on Thursday morning after a strong and fast-moving storm left a trail of damage the previous evening.

Power was out for about 1,100 Eversource Energy customers. Some residents were back on line within a couple of hours and most of the electricity was restored by midnight, town officials said.

  • A tree down on Prospect Street that forced a road closure between Ward Street and Ellington Avenue
  • Debris and a tree in the road on High Street
  • A fire on Progress Avenue

Emergrency crews responded to several other storm-related incidents, police said.
