VERNON, CT — A three-car crash over the weekend in Vernon sent three people to area hospitals, police said.

A preliminary report was issued on the crash Monday.

The crash took place at 2:53 p.m. on the eastbound side of Route 83 at and Regan Road in front of the Valero gas station.

A Chevrolet Tahoe, a Hyundai Santa Fe and a Subaru Forester were involved, according to a report. One car rear-ended another and then a third created the pile-up, a report indicated.

Fire crews had to lay sand on the road because of a fluid spill.

One person was taken to Rockville General Hospital and two others were transported to Hartford Hospital, police said. A report classified the injuries as "no-life-threatening."
