Work Begins On New Pavilion At Vernon Senior Center
The Vernon Senior Center is getting a new pavilion.

VERNON, CT — Construction has begun on a new pavilion at the Vernon Senior Center.
Work crews were busy preparing for the laying of concrete Thursday after setting up some additional framing the day before. The goal is to complete the work by May, town officials said.
The pavilion is part of the original design of the center and its $140,000 price tag was included in the $3.245 million bond package approved to pay for it in 2017.

The pavilion will measure 30-by-40 feet and be located to at the north side of the property near the other recreation offerings.
The senior center already has shuffleboard, a horseshoe pit, a bocce court and a basketball hoop. The idea was to provide a picnic area and shelter from the sun while the participants are taking breaks, town officials said.
