Workplace Ministry Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Founded in 2000, Vernon-based non-profit has local, regional and national footprint

In February, Northeast Christians At Work will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The all-volunteer, grassroots 501c3 workplace ministry was officially launched during “Congress,” a major Christian convention in Boston in February of 2000. The ministry is based at Keep In Touch, located at 30 Lafayette Square in Suite 118. Its mission is to joyfully make, motivate and mature Christians in workplaces across the Northeastern United States.

The core elements of the ministry are media relations, the Internet, special events and resources. Over the decades, the ministry’s media relations activities have generated millions of impressions in print, on the radio, on television and online; from local media to ABCnews.com, the Associated Press, Boston Globe, CBS Evening News, NBC Today Show and New York Times. Media coverage tends to increase around two Christian holidays. During Christmas season, the ministry sponsors the annual Northeast Marketplace Ministry Awards. At Easter season, the ministry sponsors the annual Joy At Work Week. Since the 2012 Sandy Hook shootings, the ministry has sponsored Overcome Evil with Good Today.

The organization relies on its website, weekly Salt Mine email devotions, and Salt Mine Facebook devotions to digitally reach thousands of working Christians across the region. Thus far, the organization has had displays at over 400 events, conducted about 500 seminars, given away about 300,000 handouts, and spoken at about 2,000 events. The website contains a variety of downloadable resources and hotlinks.
