1K Wallingford School Staff Members To Receive COVID-19 Vaccine

Superintendent Salvatore Menzo announced plans for all of the school district's staff members to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by next week.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Thanks to a partnership with Hartford Healthcare, 1,000 staff members in the Wallingford Public School District will receive the coronavirus vaccine by next week, according to Superintendent Salvatore Menzo.

In a message to parents Tuesday, Menzo said he was disappointed last week that Wallingford wasn’t allocated any additional vaccinations for school staff beginning this week.

“In response to that news, I contacted several people this weekend and began to brainstorm with our team at the Central Office and the Town Health Department alternatives to meet our needs,” Menzo wrote in the email. “As a result, I am excited to share great news. In partnership with Hartford Healthcare, we will vaccinate 200 staff members on Friday, March 5, 2021 and the remainder of our staff (800) on Sunday, March 7, 2021. I cannot thank Hartford Healthcare enough for responding to my emails this weekend and meeting yesterday to assist in accessing vaccines for our staff to expedite the process.

“I also must continue to express my gratitude to Mr. Civitelli, Director of the Wallingford Public Health Department, for his commitment in assisting our district throughout the pandemic. We are so fortunate to have a wonderful team!”

Menzo also said he will update families in the coming weeks of the timeline to return students back to school five days a week and full time.
