To celebrate the opening of its second facility in Wallingford, Amazon donated 700 backpacks filled with school supplies for local students.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Amazon’s new delivery station in Wallingford will officially open for business this week and welcome associates inside the 84,000 square-foot building to celebrate its Day 1 of operation, company officials announced Tuesday.

Officials said the delivery station at 425 South Cherry St. will create more than 150 full and part-time jobs. All of the jobs pay at least $15 per hour, in addition to “hundreds of driver opportunities for Amazon’s Delivery Service Partners and Amazon Flex drivers.”

“Delivery stations power the last mile of our order process and help speed up deliveries for customers,” the news release states. “Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighboring Amazon Fulfillment and Sortation Centers, loaded into delivery vehicles and delivered to customers.”
