Amazon Plans To Open Another Facility In Wallingford

The company has submitted plans to open a second facility in Wallingford.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Amazon is planning on opening another facility in Wallingford with a new delivery center on South Cherry Street, according to multiple reports.

The New Haven Register reports Amazon has submitted plans to open an 83,000-square-foot delivery center to serve as “the last mile” in getting customers’ orders to them. Amazon also has a sorting center on Research Parkway in Wallingford that opened in 2016 and a fulfillment center that opened in North Haven last year.

Amazon Logistics would be housed in a vacant warehouse that is slated for renovation at 425 South Cherry St. and be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports that tractor-trailers would bring packages to the new delivery station from Amazon fulfillment and sortation centers. Third-party contractors in vans and personal cars would then pick up packages for delivery to customers.

Amazon is scheduled to present its plan to the Wallingford Planning and Zoning Commission at its meeting on March 11.
