Former Longtime Lyman Hall Baseball Coach Dies

Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford is mourning the death of former longtime baseball coach Chuck Bughardt.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford is mourning the loss of former longtime baseball coach Chuck Burghardt, who died Tuesday at the age of 75.

“It's a sad day for the Lyman Hall Athletic Department as it's with a heavy heart to share that longtime LH baseball coach, Chuck Burghardt, passed away today,” the athletic department wrote in a post on Twitter.

Burghardt was the Trojans’ coach from 1993 to 2018 and won a state title in 2002.

Burghardt died at Yale-New Haven Hospital due to complications from a stroke, his son Mike told GameTimeCT.com.

“So sorry for your loss,” the North Haven Athletic Department wrote in a post on Twitter. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Burghardt Family and the Lyman Hall Baseball Program.”

Burghardt also managed the Wilcox Tech baseball team for 11 seasons and was an English and Social Studies teacher at the school, according to the Meriden Record-Journal. He was Teacher of the Year in 2008.
